Building a Better Journalist - The Sequel

On the heels of a successful partnership with the University of Oregon last fall, SPJ and UO will again team up for a conference in fall 2008. We are pleased to host Steve Engelberg, managing editor of ProPublica, as this year's featured speaker. We'll also offer a variety of training sessions, including traditional writing courses and others geared toward emerging technologies in the field. Gas prices got you down?

SPJ will award up to five $100 travel scholarships to take the sting out of traveling to Eugene for the Oct. 25 conference. Scholarships are given to working journalists who have to travel 100 or more miles and whose employers won’t underwrite their travel costs. SPJ membership is preferred, but not required. Travel scholars will have their admission to the conference waived.
